Part 1

Textile Treasures and their Care, Display and Enjoyment

Presenter: Regina Lewis-Middleton

Facilitator: Joyce Lock

Explore the wonderful world of weaving and textiles through the eyes of Regina Lewis-Middleton, a textile conservator and expert. Join us as we celebrate and learn how to store or display some of our historical and cherished artifacts. The presentation will be followed by a discussion time where guild members will be able to ask about some of their own special textiles. Regina may help us to bring out those stored and hidden fabrics, allowing us to “hang out with our own textiles”.

Part 2

2019/2020 Guild Challenge “Just A Slice Of The Color Wheel”

Facilitator: Sue Szczotka

Who says that weaving in only one color is boring? In this year’s challenge we will explore the many ways to take a monochromatic color scheme and make a fantastic woven project. You may use one color only, or use a color along with a tint (a lighter version of the same color) or a shade (a darker version of the same color), always staying within the same slice of the color wheel “pie.” Consider using thread of different sizes, different textures and different sheen. Use a pattern which makes the threads appear differently like a lace weave, or even dye your own monochromatic ombre’ effect. Samples will be presented to help get your creative juices flowing.
